Nordic Clean Energy Week

Climate Energy EU Global cooperation

From 21 to 25 May 2018, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the European Commission, and the Nordic Council of Ministers will host the Ninth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM9) and Third Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI3) in Copenhagen and Malmö.

Copenhagen and Malmo will also host the Nordic Clean Energy Week (NCEW), which will accelerate the world's renewable energy transformation. Participants include decision makers, ministers, companies, investors, researchers, and experts in the field of energy and climate from the world's largest economies.

Together, CEM and MI countries account for 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the Clean Energy Week is an important event towards reaching the Paris Agreement's objectives for a fossil-free future.

At the same time, the CEM and MI countries account for 90% of global energy investments, providing opportunities for business to showcase innovative solutions and to gain access to major export markets.

The week long gathering in Copenhagen and Malmo (known as the Öresund Region), at the end of May is an important platform for showcasing sustainable Nordic energy solutions to the world.

Minister of Energy, Utilities and Climate Lars Chr. Lilleholt:

"Hosting the CEM9/MI-3 allows us as Denmark to showcase our solutions in renewable conversion to the world's largest economies. At the same time, the Nordic Clean Energy Week is an important contribution to achieving global climate goals."
